Following Liturgy, the children head to their classrooms to learn about the Orthodox Church and its beautiful traditions. The children are learning about the Twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church this year. However, we have several different curriculums available for Sunday School that we rotate. The children learn about other topics as well such as the Divine Liturgy, Saints of the Orthodox Church, Mysteries, Traditions and Vocations to name a few.
There are three grade levels available in our Sunday School Program.
Please register your children by September 8th for Church School after Liturgy on Sundays. The fee is $30 per child. You can pay through the donation page (indicate that it is for church school registration) or bring a check the first week of class.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a hands-on, experiential approach to church education based on Montessori principles. The goal of CGS is to help the child fall in love with God by creating an environment that fosters wonder and joy and allows the Holy Spirit to be the child's main teacher. We are pleased to announce that we are now offering CGS for ages 3 to 9!
Atrium Level 1 (3-6 years old): The child encounters the liturgical life of the Church, Parables of Christ, and the narratives surrounding Christ's birth, death and resurrection.
Atrium Level 2 (6-9 years old): The child begins to integrate, relate and synthesize his knowledge and to explore the “why” and “from where” questions that naturally arise at this age.
VCS is a summer camp program available to kids age 3-12 from Christ the Savior and many other area churches. Kids spend the week learning about the Twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church including: the Feasts of the Theotokos, Feasts of Christ and Feasts of the Church. We have Morning Prayers and Assembly followed by Lesson Time, Games, Crafts, Snack and much more. The children have a wonderful opportunity to learn about their Orthodox Faith in a fun environment and build new friendships.
The Divine Liturgy is broadcast from Christ the Savior every Sunday on Ancient Faith Radio Talk, starting at 9:30am Central Time.
